I have been trying to increase my awareness about global warming and environmental pollution. Yes, I usually use Chlorox and Lysol to disinfect the bathroom; particularly the toilets to prevent the spread of bacteria and germs. However, I found out that most commercial cleansers are produced from sulfates and other dangerous chemicals.
I found out that sulfates are aerosols resulting from fossil fuel and biomass combustion; therefore, sulfates increase the acidity of the atmosphere, thus forming acid rain. I know that people who live in areas of the USA in which acid rain has fallen have been stricken with cancer and other deadly and fatal illnesses.
In order to do my part to save the earth by becoming more eco-friendly, I have begun to use natural cleansers made from plant oils instead of petroleum-based, chemical cleansers. I started using a delightful orange oil cleanser
. This orange oil is fragrant to smell, water soluble and very effective. It is much much safer for our environment.
I always read product labels to make sure that the cleansers I purchase do not contain any sulfates, petroleum or parabens. Benzenes and parabens in any form are cancer producing, so I am very careful to avoid these products. I am becoming very conscious about how I can contribute to environmental sustainability for our children and our grandchildren’s benefit.
